Hellllllooooooo! I’m finally BACK! After what felt like an eternity being away. Were you worried I quit, or forgot about you?? Hopefully not. Well, my apologies for being MIA recently, but I took a much-needed hiatus as we focused on some pretty big life milestones- we purchased our first home AND got married all within a month and a half. It’s been a pretty hectic past few months, and although it was all worth it, I’m excited to be back to a somewhat normal life now that the wedding is over and we’re settled (and an old married couple).
Want a little peek into our life over the past few months? Here ya go!
Major league wedding planning. Goodness, I never knew how much work goes into planning a wedding. I love doing things myself and ended up being our own wedding planner. Lots of emails, lots of coordinating, and even doing details and decor by hand. I love this stuff, but it sure was a lot of work. More coming later in a blog post about our wedding and the whole planning process. I feel like I’m a professional now and have so many planning tips to share. Stay tuned!
Purchased our first home. We hadn’t planned to buy a house until after the wedding, but our lease was up at the end of May, so we decided to do a little looking in the hopes we wouldn’t have to renew. Well, with the crazy hot housing marking in Colorado Springs, “just looking” quickly turned into “let’s find the perfect house NOW!”. We looked for about three weeks straight and ended up finding the perfect house in a great school district, with a YARD and mountain views. We won the bid, and closed and moved in in the middle of May. We’re so excited to finally be homeowners and have a place we can call our own (and a place I can fill with plants!!). Now I FINALLY have time to get some decorations up and make this place ours.
Bachelorette Party- I spent a weekend in the mountains in Leadville with my girls and it was so perfect, and exactly what I wanted. We hiked, we explored, we ate tasty food and just hung out. So much fun, and got us all even more excited for the big day! Only thing missing was the 5th bridesmaid, Kelly!
Wedding in NY- Since we’re high school sweethearts from Rochester, NY, we decided it was best to have the wedding back home. We got married at the gorgeous historic barn wedding venue, Toganenwood Estate. There were record high temperatures and humidity, and I don’t think I’ve ever sweat so much. Despite being drenched, it was a gorgeous weekend surrounded by our closest friends and family. Cam said some pretty sweet vows and I was lucky enough to have my mom walk me down the aisle! We had a weekend full of festivities, lots of drinks, plenty to eat, and enough celebrating to fill all our hearts. We can’t thank our friends and family enough for helping us celebrate almost nine years of love & are so happy to continue our adventures together! I think we make a perfect couple. And you know what this now means……. DOG TIME!!!

Honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico- Just what the doctor ordered. Wow, did it feel good to have a week of not a single worry. The only thing we were concerned with was when the next pina colada was coming. I thought Cam was going to turn into one!! We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun and drank and ate our hearts out. Seriously- SO. MUCH. FOOD. We did some exploring outside the resort and went snorkeling, on a sunset dinner cruise, and checked out the Mayan ruins in Tulum and Coba. What a wonderful week we had being together and basking in the first week of husband and wife happiness. Now back to reality as we head into the real world and continue this adventure of life together- it sure feels like a dream!
Well, there we have it! Now, can you see why I was a little MIA, right? I definitely recommend anyone who plans to buy a house a month before their wedding to take some time off to just live, and be, and get ready for the big day!! Stay tuned for a post later about our wedding details and all the work that went into making our once-in-a-lifetime day comet o life!
