Morning sessions are my absolute favorite. You get ALL of campus to yourself, and the early morning light is perfect. Maggie and I had a great morning session last week. You wouldn’t even know it was only 29 degrees. She totally killed it!
Annnnnd, senior season has officially begun! I’ve been so anxious to get started taking senior pictures again, and the time is finally here. I kicked it off with Savannah and Allie and we had some great weather. They weren’t scheduled to go until later in April, but we chose to get the pictures done early because it was so nice outside. Check these pretty girls out! We had so much fun taking these pictures around campus.
Be on the lookout this coming week for a few more blog posts on other senior sessions!
Just as a heads up, my website is currently a work in progress. I just created a new theme for it, so I’m rebuilding it from scratch and not everything is final. My blog posts with all my photos only updated as far back as this summer, so if you’re interested in seeing more of my work, please check out my Facebook page to see all of my photos. Sorry for any inconvenience!
If you’re a Penn State senior looking for portrait information, see this blog post, here!
Oh my goodness. I have been wanting to do a shoot like this for so long now. This is such a great time and is truly a great one to get captured on camera. I was so happy when Angelo texted me to ask about me potentially photographing his proposal. Not only did I photograph the actual proposal, but we also got a mini-engagement session in afterwards and they were just so happy. This was such a great idea to have this moment photographed, and I urge all guys to set something like this up before proposing. I promise your girl will love you even more!
Check out these precious lovebirds. We had great weather and a beautiful sunny day. What a great day to propose!
UPDATE- Unfortunately I am no longer taking new senior sessions. I graduated in May and will be moving to Colorado at the beginning of June! Thanks so much for your interest!
Hi, all!! I’m so excited to be finally be announcing information regarding senior portraits for Penn State students. This is one of my favorite times of the year and I LOVE taking these pictures. This is my last year at Penn State and I can’t wait to take some beautiful pictures of you and your friends around our lovely campus for one last time.
Below you can find info about pricing and packages. Take note that these options are completely customizable. If you have more people, or want different locations, or only want one location, or want a mixture of what I offer- no worries, I can make it work for you! I’m willing to work something out to be sure I can both offer you exactly what you are looking for, AND be within your budget.
Individual Portrait Session ($125)– This session is for pictures of just yourself. We will take photos at two different locations on campus. Additional locations can be added for $40 each. The most popular ones are the Lion Shrine, Old Main, the Arboretum, the big Penn State sign, and the Alumni Center (which is surprisingly very pretty in the spring). This session usually takes about an hour. After it is complete, I will edit the best 20-25 images from your session and share them with you via a gallery from which you can download all of the images and upload and make prints with as you like. If you add an additional location, you will get more images.
Group Session (prices vary depending on group size)– these will be similar to the ones mentioned above, however, rather than just you, these sessions will include 2 or more people. Generally, the more people you have in the group, the cheaper the sessions will be. You will get both individual and group photos at two locations on campus, as well as chosen edited image files shared with you to an online gallery.
Group of 2: $105 per person
Group of 3: $95 per person
Group of 4: $85 per person
Group of 5: $75 per person
Group of 6: $70 per person
Group of 7: $65 per person
Group of 8-15: $60 per person
For large groups of 16+, I am charging $65 per person. Large groups are so much fun, but a LOT of additional work for me.
Couple Session ($165)– this is essentially like an individual session but with some added pictures of you and your boyfriend (or girlfriend, or significant other) and will last about one hour and a half. Most of the time, guys don’t care that much about pictures and only want a few. With this session, you get exactly what is offered with the individual session (individual pictures of yourself at 2 locations), but your boyfriend (or significant other) can come along to one of the locations, and get a few pictures with you, and some of just himself.
Mini Session ($75)– this is a budget friendly option for someone who wants pictures at a single location on campus. This session will last up to 20 minutes and will take place at either the Lion Shrine, Old Main or the Hintz Alumni Center. After your session, you will receive 8 high-resolution edited image files. Due to time constraints in my schedule, these sessions can only be booked in the afternoon between 1 and 4 pm (I am reserving the 7 am or 5:30 pm sessions listed in my availability document for full individual or group sessions). If you’re interested in a mini session, please email me with a few days that would work best for you, and we’ll decide on one as it gets closer based on which day has the best weather.
* NOTE- All sessions include a print release. You will receive high-resolution image files that you can use for social media uploads, and making prints with as you like. You do not need to purchase prints through Allison Ranslow Photography. Also, all sessions will take place at Penn State’s University Park campus.
Please note, like I mentioned above, all these options are completely customizable. If you have a group and not everyone would like individual pictures or want an additional location, I can change the prices to alter your specific desires.
Click here to see my most up-to-date availability! Times crossed out in green are NO LONGER available. There are three rain dates that will be held in case of bad weather, but can ultimately be scheduled as a regular session if the weather is good up until then. Regardless of the date your session is scheduled for, everyone will receive at least 3 images before graduation. I can’t guarantee you will get all pictures back before you graduate (especially those that are close to graduation weekend), but I’ll work hard to make sure you at least get 3 beforehand- even for sessions booked during finals week.
I know 7 AM (and 6:45 AM) during the week is super early, but these are honestly my favorite sessions. The lighting at the Lion Shrine is perfect if it’s a sunnier day (see below). Even at 7:30 the sun starts to peek through the trees too much and gets pretty bright. Additionally, you get all of campus to yourself. This is so much better than having to worry about waiting in lines at the Shrine or the PSU sign during popular hours, and you don’t have to worry about people spread all across the Old Main lawn and being in the background of your pictures. If you don’t mind getting up a little early, I promise you’ll be satisfied.
I highly recommend booking your sessions ASAP. Last year I was fully booked and had to turn people away. Don’t wait until the last minute to book! Finals week gets very busy on campus with extremely long lines at the Lion Shrine (which I am trying to avoid waiting in). With the nicer weather we have been having, it might be better to book your session a week or two early to get it out of the way and not have to worry about the craziness on campus that comes as graduation approaches. Pictures are a great way to commemorate your years at Penn State and you can’t beat these affordable prices I am offering- I offer SIGNIFICANTLY reduced rates for the PSU senior portrait season and don’t typically charge such low prices, so take advantage of these while you can!
Sessions can be booked either by text/call at (585)233-2059, email at email@example.com, in person, or via Facebook on either my personal or photography page. If emailing me, please put the day of the week, date and time of the session you are requesting in your subject line- it makes it a lot easier for me to organize requests I get. I look forward to hearing from you!
**I’m in the process of updating my website and all of my previous work has not been posted here yet. If you’re interested in seeing sample senior pictures I’ve taken from last year or the year before, please check out the photo albums on my Facebook page or look at the gallery on my website. Sorry if this causes you any inconvenience!
I had so much fun photographing Sarah and Rachel over Christmas break! Fortunately the weather was exceptionally warm and we were able to take pictures outside with jackets (and with warm sunshine!). These two were laughing the whole time and really made my job easy- I didn’t even have to prompt them to “candid laugh” because they were naturally laughing the whole time.
Abbey was my roommate freshman year at Penn State and I have been friends with her ever since. I have taken many pictures of her and Ben throughout their relationship and was always promised to be the photographer for their wedding and engagement pictures. Now that time has come and they are finally engaged and I couldn’t be happier. We took these photos right after Thanksgiving on a very gloomy and rainy day. Fortunately there were some covered areas we found to take pictures- you can barely even tell it was gross outside.
Their love is so precious and you can really tell throughout these photos. Congrats to the happy couple! And I can’t wait until this October for the wedding!!
Couples are one of my favorite things to photograph, but it’s even more fun when I get to photograph friends. I knew Jess and Kyle from Penn State and we had the perfect weekend for a mini-session when they were back up to Penn State for a visit. We had unbelievably warm weather for December in central PA, and didn’t even need jackets.
I had the pleasure of doing a mini-session with Ben and Courtney right before Christmas. I had played soccer with Courtney in high school and she saw my pictures on Facebook and contacted me for a session! It was nice to rekindle with an old friend. Check out their cute session taken at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY.
